YOU REALLY HAVE TO GO……

to Silver Star MTB park! They are going off!
Anually, Team NSMB kicks off the summer by spending a weekend at a MTB Park.
Silver Star, after a brief hiatus, has come back incredibly strong with the most amazing Bike Park I had the pleasure of riding in. I said it all weekend, and I will say it again – what a way to start my holiday! My only regret – I wish I could have spent the whole weekend with the Team, I am glad I did manage to get the time off that I did tho!
I left work after my 12 hour night shift, Saturday morning…..drove as carefully as I could to the mountain, pulled the bike out and promptly ran into the host with the most, Robin Baycroft – whom I’ve known since my days racing at SIlver Star way back when……
Hooked me up with with a 2 day pass and then I was swept away to lunch at the Silver Lode Inn. The food was amazing! Wasn’t sure if I should eat it or take pictures of it…..well Dave Ferguson took care of that…..
Dave was with the Team to record the events from the weekend and the RIDE GUIDE had Jeff there to put together some footage for a segment on an upcoming episode (I let yah know when it’ll air!)
After lunch we went back out to play, the boys were heavy into filming/shooting some jumps…I wasn’t ready for that. I needed to just ride and get a feel for my bike, new bike, not enough time to ride lately, sooooooo tired….. besides, I ran into my good friend, Deb (we were teammates on Norco a long time ago) and that was just what I needed! I had so much fun and I had Deb showing me the trails (she had a few hours head start on me)
A great afternoon of riding was followed by a huge BBQ put on by our most gracious hosts at the house that was given to us for the weekend.
The house was gorgeous! It had 2 (count ‘em) 2 hot tubs, plus a jet tub upstairs! BBQ’s were blazing – the food was amazing, the company….entertaining and then things became even more interesting when “The Hemmingway” came out. Now I will tease you, and not give the details of what “The Hemmingway” is all about. But those of you that were there know what I am talking about and I wouldn’t want to ruin the mystery of it all….. teehee!
Team Rookie, Neil:

….was appropriately initiated onto the team…..congrats Neil! and welcome aboard! This boy rips!
The party was hilarious, I wish I had pictures! But Ryan Newman was hogging all the cameras, taking pictures of everything in sight – bust moves that would have made Peter Parker jelaous.
DAY 2 – Sunday
Household cleanup….hearty breakfast at Putnam Station with Jeff from Ride Guide, local patrollers, and Eric
and then off to the lift to start the day.
Unfortunately, Eric had a bad crash and dislocated his shoulder and couldn’t continue riding….~~~~speedy healing vibes ~~~~
However, I finally got my game together and had some fantastic shots taken by Dave Ferguson and Ryan Newman did a bunch of follow-cam for The Ride Guide of me too. Got really lucky with the weather, only had one little shower that coincided with our lunch break…what luck!
By the end of the day, everyone was soooo beat and exhausted by the riding that we could hardly talk, no one looking forward to the long drive home.
For myself, I drove to Summerland to visit the parents and to see the progress on the home reno’s, finally getting home around 2:30 am.
I had the bestest weekend ever…..hopefully I will get my hands on some pictures – because what I experienced at Silver Star was above and beyond all my expectations of a local mountain and MTB Parks! You should go…DO IT!
