MARC SHAPIRO….
December 3rd, 2006We recently had some very sad news about one of our own at work.
Marc became very ill about a week and a half ago.
Marc is a 28 year old Firefighter/ERS technician at Vancouver International Airport. He has just been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and is being treated at Vancouver General Hospital. He needs help with medical costs, as well as support for his Mom and Family to be able to come and be in Vancouver with him while undergoing treatment. Marc loves music, and the outdoors. He’s a VERY avid hiker, snowboarder, and he also loves playing guitar. He’s shown in the picture with his little brother David. Marc is a great guy to be around, and a fantastic friend. Please help us help him out when he needs it. Donations can be made through the various links on this page or through the Royal Bank “The Shapiro Support Fund”. Thank you for your love!!!
We are all quite optimistic and pleased about our buddy’s progress!
Marc‘s recovery will likely be a long one, but we hope to have him back real soon.
Here are a few pictures to show you what kind a guy Marc is, and what he means to me….
Marc is third guy from the left with the rest of the crew he works with:
Here is a picture of Marc and the fire truck (Red 1) that he was training me on a few years ago:
In May 2003, we officially took over the Fire Hall at the airport (YVR). Here I am with Marc. Moving in, and we were tasked with sorting through the medical supplies:
An finally, here is Marc, being himself.
There is no one else like him in this world…and I love him for it!
You are my hero Marc, You have the best attitude, personality and a wonderful spirit….You have the strength to get through this, I BELEIVE in you! (dammit, now I’m getting all misty-eyed…) Hang on & be strong buddy!
XOB
