DAY ONE…

December 31st, 2004

Got up early. Pouring rain here. Decided to drive on the old HWY #1 towards Cache Creek/Williams Lake. This is where the rain turned to snow. Driving became a wee bit trecherous. We began to see cars in the ditches.

Stopped in Williams Lake to visit Shreddie’s Mom and give her a Christmas present.

Vehicle count by the time we made it to Powder King (2 hours north of Prince George) was about 5 cars/mini vans and 2 4×4 pickups in the ditches. Funny thing, the 4×4′s were the ones that actually flipped, the rest just slid off the roads.

We arrived at the “hotel” (and I use this term very loosely) in Powder King (Chateau Atco). My suggestion, unless you have a strong immune system – and stomache – find somewhere else to stay…..

At least we had a great sense of adventure:

The “facilities”:

No where to go but up from here……but once you understand how and why things operate the way they do…then it all begins to make sense somehow.

No rest for the wicked….

Stockings full of goodies is a great way to start a morning……and Bailey’s in your coffee.

it was really cool to see young Phillip check out all his presents…and his baby sisters’ presents too.

Johnny and I got lots of great loot!

The skiing conditions still haven’t improved, so we hung out at the cabin with the family, resting and chillin’, and then it was dinner time!

The food rocked! But I was kind of bummed out that we had to leave so soon after dinner. I have to go back to work for the next four days, but after that, we are officially on holidays. No fixed plan yet, we just plan on following the snow….

I’m out….
