SATURDAY OCTOBER 11, 2003

Lap 1….”Sunset” Now pay attention….this was a funny ride (in retrospect) I know that I am my worst patient….

Sunset is a great flowy trail (another one…) near the top there is a wooden wall ride. Under neath the wood is a big curved log, to give you an idea of whnat it was like. If I can post the viddie from it, if you look closely (don’t blink) you will see me with my pants down examining meself.

Before we started the ride, while loading the bike I discovered that my shock was blown….real bummer. Nothin worse that trying to ride a 9.5″ pogo stick. Worser still, there was a bunch of drops/jumps I still wanted to try but I wasn’t about too with a bad shock.

Anyway, everyone was riding the wall ride, so I decided to give it a go. I almost made it, thought my tires were about to slide out from under me so I stopped pedalling, tried to bail out, fell with (ontop) my bike, grabbed my crotch and started bawlin’.

When the pain subsided, I gingerly stuck my hand down my pants to see if all was ok. Pulled my hand out and it was covered in blood.

I had enough supplies in my pack that I could patch myself up…but it was a very deep gash on my “clam”….should re-name the trail “c**tbuster” tho – worthy of a few stitches, but I couldn’t decide if I should get them or not. Janelle was the smart one. She asked me that if i had a patient that had the same injury would I send her in to get stitches??? She was right.

There was talk of riding out the road, I I felt Ok, just as long as I didin’t hit it again, I could ride.

Ran into another group of riders part way down. They couldn’t believe that I was still riding after that…better yet – at this realy fun hip jump section, I borrowed Janelle‘s hardtail and hit the jumps a coupla times!!! Just couldn’t pass it up.

End of the ride Janelle and I hitched a ride into town with the other group while the boys got our shuttle driver to rip them up to the top for another lap. Johnny and Gary rode “So Long” while Janelle brought me tot he Hospital. The boys caught up to us there before I got stitched up. In the end I recieved 3 stitches…lucky me! Bought two lottery tickets after that (didn’t win tho-)

Back to Lenora’s house (Mark’s “Shreddie” Mom) who kindly shared her beautiful house with us. BTW, Lenora is thinking about setting up her house as a B&B….which is perfect for BUSH PILOT, so now we have a B&B style place to stay in Williams Lake and a Mom!!!

Cheers Mark, Lenora, Janelle and all the Puddle Boys that played with us!!!

Williams Lake is a gem!
