May 17/2003 Wow! My first Guiding weekend this season! I had a bunch of “boys” from the San Fransisco area and from Alabama! What a hoot. These guys were a riot. Clarke and his friends usually go to places like Moab for a little biking holiday, but this year they decided to try something a little different.
They spent their first day riding with Johnny (Friday), I shuttled them up and then went to work for the afternoon. But today, we started in the same place, top of Seymour, CBC, but this time we had fresh snow on the trail! This made the ride very interesting indeed. I figured…”what the hell, I’ve ridden those logs rides when they were really wet, what’s a little snow???” Famous last words…I fell deep in the mud. Serves me right I geuss…. I did, however, ride the zig-zag skinny for the first time to the end where the log starts – when I realized what I was doing and then stopped. Aarrggh. I’ll get it one day…so close! We also ran into Jeremy Power from nsmba, and had an opportunity to meet the trail builder mastermind and learn how the trail was built and a little history of the area…first hand information. The boys were stoked!
Took the boys down some of the other trails they didn’t see yesterday like: Boogeyman. They’e seen Corkscrew and Pingu, but it’s always ok to see the trails a second time, at least you know what’s coming at you. They loved the Boogeyman and especially the huge motherf***ing log ride across the ravine….many pictures taken, down the lower part of Pangor and into Slash, Wayne’s World to the house.
I had arranged for a ride – date P-Dub (anotherboy) after the shop closed and so I opted out of round 2 with Clarke and the boys. But I shuttled them up to the Mushroom Parking Lot so they could end the day with a run down Ned’s to the Holiday Inn (where they were staying) on their own. They rode this trail with Johnny yesterday so they knew where to go this time!
We’ll hook up again tomorrow!
My afterwork ride with my other boyfriend, P-Dub was a scream.
His buddy, Ryan, joined us. Dub and I were on hardtails and we started on Corkscrew to Pingu, Pangor to the Baden Powell and to Chunga’s Revenge to the house. Felt really strange to be riding the same trails, hours later, but on a hardtail….I was still waiting for the suspension to kick in during the top section….hehehe. Definitely more work with the little bike…and very tired at the end of it all!
What a day! ![]()
‘Til tomorrow..G’night!
